Church on a Thursday night? Join Grace United Methodist for Faith, Family and Fun

Cheyenne (Grace United Methodist Church) -- Grace United Methodist Church is expanding! Starting June 11th, a Thursday evening service is being added called “Faith, Family and Fun.”

“This new, fun-filled evening is a new way to think about ‘church’ and to help members stay connected with the church family during the warm summer months. We know that many people travel during the summer and can’t always make it to a traditional Sunday service,” said Rev. Don Sperber. “Our second goal is to attract new people who may not have a church home and are looking for some alternatives.”

Each night will begin with a potluck fellowship dinner from 6 to 6:30 p.m. in Grace Hall. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. most nights, the adults will stay in Grace Hall for a workshop on a specific topic, while the children and youth go to the main church building for youth group (grades 6-12) or children’s church activities (nursery also will be available for children under 5). The evening will conclude with a 30-minute worship service either in Grace Hall or out on the church lawn, depending on the week and the weather.

The following is a tentative schedule of adult workshop activities. Those with asterisks by them are weeks when children and youth will stay with their parents (or grandparents or aunts or uncles) rather than split off into separate groups.

July 2 – * Family game night (Lawn activities and inside games)
July 9 – How to live more simply
July 16 – My faith story
July 23 – Cowboy poet or storyteller/gospel sing in Western attire
July 30 – Solar ovens and rocket stoves
Aug. 6 – Missions and Ministry Fair
Aug. 13 – Hobby Night (Expressing ourselves through arts and crafts)
Aug. 20 – * Family game night/mini-carnival/Sunday School registration

For more information, please contact the church office at 634-7472 or Brian Martin at 630-8957.
